Fishing Population

The fishermen’s households as numbered 128,103 of whom 5,828 engaged in far sea fishery, 18,164 engaged in offshore fishery, 61,357 engaged in coastal fishery and 5,041 engaged in inland fishing fishery, 5,388 engaged in marine culture and 32,325 engaged in in land culture. The fishing population numbered 405,593 of which 22,462 depended on far sea fishery, 57,848 depend on offshore fishery, 202,942 depended on coastal fishery, 8,616 depended on inland fishing fishery, 21,118 depended on marine culture and 92,607 depended on inland culture.

Quality Fishery

In order to improve food safety, Taiwan government implements Quality Fishery policies to aquaculture industry, i.e. Health Fishery, and Excellent fishery. Below are the charts to show these two Quality Fishery’s production and foreign trade statistics:

Fishermen's Association

In 2015, there were 29 regional fishermen’s associations and the national fishermen’s association, with a total of 429,700 members.

Foreign Trade

Imported fishery products in 2015 totaled 465,169 metric tons valued at USD1.39 billion showing an increase of USD49 million as compared with that of 2014. The exports totaled 795,409 metric tons valued at USD1.66 billion.

Aquaculture Feed

There are 62 feed mills produced 484,933 metric tons aquaculture feed in 2015.
